What Is A Barrier Gate Arm?
Barrier gate arms are an excellent way to control traffic while adding security and safety. They are most frequently used in parking areas, railroad crossings, and businesses. They are installed at the access point to let traffic flow in and out of the perimeter. Most barrier arms have an opener that uses keypads, card readers, or intercoms in order for the arm to raise and let the vehicle through. Barrier gate arms are extremely popular throughout the world.
Traffic can flow through the barrier arm in several ways. The barrier gate opener can be operated via a keypad, telephone entry system, card reader, radio, photo eyes, or remotely through a guard station. The environment in which the barrier opener will be used will decide what type of entry system someone would want to use. For example, a business may want a key card or guard station, that way, they can only allow authorized people through. An apartment complex may want to use a keypad. Whatever the use case is, there are plenty of ways to operate the barrier arm.
Barrier arms can range from 10 ft. (3 m) up to 25 ft. (7.6 m). This wide range of sizes will allow different configurations and designs for any environment. The longer the barrier arm, the stronger the opener will need to be. Most of the barrier arms that come with our Linear Gate openers are made of wood. These arms can easily be replaced if need be.
